A unique suspense film depicting a woman's unresolved feelings and grudges through the eyes of a crucian carp. A bucket of crucian carp was left at the home of Shiomura (Jun Inoue), a trading company employee, by someone. Shiomura looks into the fish's giddy eyes and recalls an affair he had with Tsuyuko (Naomi Oki), a woman at a small restaurant who used to be his mistress. She had a pet crucian carp, and the crucian carp always stared intently at their love affair, and it was the same eyes.

"You have to think about whether they're really your friends," Johnny's dad says when Johnny talks to him about the grief his pals have been giving him lately. The other boys haven't exactly tried to understand why Dad opened up his family's home to Miyeko, a survivor of the Hiroshima Atomic bomb. Although she is only in America a short time to have surgery on her badly scarred face and arm, her visit reveals just how many ignorant and intolerant attitudes still exist 10 years after the war's end. But Johnny, who also resents Miyeko at first, becomes one of her fiercest defenders after he makes the effort to look past her outward appearance. Only then can the scars begin to heal.

This film reflects on the voices of his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandson as they pass down his testimony, alongside other double atomic bomb survivors sharing their own experiences. How can those of us who did not experience the bombing inherit and continue to pass on these memories? Intersecting with records of the Daigo Fukuryu Maru and Kochi tuna fishing boats exposed to fallout at Bikini Atoll, this work contemplates the future of remembering and storytelling. Originally created for the "Creating Expression from Records" workshop held at the Daigo Fukuryu Maru Exhibition Hall. This film was produced based on the feature documentary film "Twice Bombed, Twice Survived"which I worked on as an editor.
